Vera Lane Studio Journal Pages

Below are 3 journal pages using Vera Lane Studio
digi images. They are 8" x 8" in size.
I have used a variety of paints, stamps and stencils, and
added a cat image from ZinskiArt on the page below.
The animal characters below are from Octopode.
My favourite part of the above three pages is my hand painted tree in the page above. I finished off this page using stamps from IndigoBlu.

I hope these give you a little bit of inspiration for you own journal pages.

Vera Lane Studio

Another new love of mine is Vera Lane Studios.

I have been following the blog Betwixt this and that for a couple of years now, Nikki the blog owner makes some incredible ATC's using Vera Lane Studio downloads and I decided to give it a go and see what I could come up with.
The Facebook page of VLS has monthly swaps and the standard of the work is amazing.
Below is my first piece, a 6" x 6" card coloured using watercolours.
The ATC below is the first swap I took part in.
As you can see, the images are a little quirky but lots of fun to use. There are a huge variety of images to choose from and I intend to make full use of as many as possible!

ZinskiArt

I am completely in love with ZinskiArt (Elena Guzinska), who has a wonderful range pre-coloured digi images (available from Etsy) and rubber stamps (available from Paperartsy)

The card below I made for my niece Suzi. I used Distress Oxides for the background (another new love of mine), a background stamp by Paperartsy and a digi image from ZinskiArt.
As my colouring skills leave a lot to be desired I find using these pre-coloured images brilliant for quick cards. This is a 6" x 6" card.

A Spooky Challenge

Over at A Quiet Colouring Corner during October, there was a Spooky Challenge!

A prompt for each day was posted and all you had to do was make a piece of artwork relating to that prompt and upload it to share.
I opted to make ATC's as they are a brilliant size for quick projects and easily stored too, here are 3 of my cards.
I use playing cards to make my ATC's and I used various techniques and products over the 31 days the challenge ran.
If you would like to look at all the wonderful entries just click HERE
I will post more of mine over the coming days.

Wanderlust 2016

Wanderlust 2016 started in January and is a year long art journaling adventure
It is the first time I have followed an online year long course and I am loving it! We are taken through stages and steps to various styles of mixed media art journaling, as art journaling is one of those crafts that cannot be 'right' or 'wrong' it is perfect for absolute beginners or experts.

Below are a couple of my pages following lessons from various teachers.

Jamie Avery produces some excellent pdf downloads offering information on pens, pencils, paints, mediums etc. these are a bit of a bible on what's what and what's not.
What I particularly like is that at no time do you feel under pressure to go out and buy new art supplies, there are no links to any shops only discount codes (from sponsors) should you wish to make purchases.
Below are a few pages of my journey so far.
Here I have used an 8" x 8" black Dylusions journal and covered it front and back using playing cards I made with Seth Apter.

Looking at these photographs I think I have added bits since taking these pics which is something I like very much, pages 'evolve' overtime until you feel you have finished.
The above page is in my tiny journal with pages
approx 4" x 6".
Above is double page of my tiny journal.

Every other week we are given 'book prompts' which are there to inspire us, it is very interesting to see the differences between everyone's pages given that we all use the same prompt.
The above double page was the first 'prompt' which was choose a word which describes how you feel today.
Above is prompt #5 which was 'What do I see when I look in the mirror'

I will post more pages from my journey throughout the year.

Happy Birthday!

At the beginning of September the lovely Pip and Christina at Glazed Creations celebrated 2 years of trading.
Below is a card I made for them using 7 Dots Studio card, an Idea-ology tag, lace and digi images I purchased from
www.byJLeeloo.etsy.com.
They loved it!

I get a funny feeling

This months challenge can be found HERE
I had a lot of fun doing these pages.
This is a double page of the Dylusions art journal.
 I used paints and masks.
 Added some stamping.
 Now for some features.
A fabulous stamp by Tracy Weinzapfel.
I used Gesso to allow the the final colour to pop.
This has made a great feature.
I used images from The Octopode Factory and Deviant Scrap.
I just love the finished result.

Pen Pot

I had my eye on this pen pot for sometime but didn't know what design I wanted to do on it. I decided to go rummaging through my stamps and came upon my Octopode stamps which were the perfect size for the pot.
To give you an idea of how I created this fab pot have a look at the pics below.
I started by stamping each image onto the bisque using black Stroke and Coat glaze.
I filled in any gaps with a brush (as the pot is curved sometimes stamps won't print out in full which is not a stamp error but a user error!) Digi images can be used by transferring with clay carbon paper.
With Stroke and Coat three layers of glaze are required to get a good solid coverage.
 I love Alice
I didn't want to use red all over the dress here so used pink and red, at this stage you never know exactly what the final colours will look like together.
I spent close to six hours on this pot, I had a fabulous chilled day painting and I cannot wait until I can do another!
