Felt Hanging

I have always loved felt from being a young child when I used to play with Fuzzy Felt. I remember my favourite was a ballet set with dancers in various poses and lots of tutus to dress them in.
My association with felt may be a little bit different nowadays (although I am heading off to eBay to see is Fuzzy Felt is still made, once I have finished this post!)
The hanging above I made using Merino wool and it is the first piece where I made all the felt myself. All but the flower center was made using the wet technique, the flower center was made using the dry technique. As a size guide the yellow felt is stretched over a beer mat. I added silk fibers to complete this project.
Well I headed off to eBay and found the exact set that I had! I would love to have this, I'm just wondering how I will explain this purchase to Mr Rum!

Anniversary Card

I made this card today for my friend Lea to give to her hubby for their Anniversary this weekend. I started with sequin waste and distress inks to give a soft effect background on an 8" x 8" card, I finished by inking the edges of the card. I took some gold metal and used it with a floral embossing plate which I coloured using alcohol inks and finished it by lightly sanding across the top of the raised images, I then cut it in half. Using the new Sizzix Bitty Bloom die I cut three flowers and some leaves out of Bazzill card stock and assembled. I wove some strips of cream and brown felt and added a heart which I had patchworked. I then assembled as above.

Felt Brooch

I really have developed a love of all things felt and so I made this fun and funky spotty heart brooch. Below are the different stages of formation from wooltops to finished shape.
Continue to decorate with wool and beads.

Felting

Had a super day at work today working with Nicki Myers, she taught me how to make felt from wool tops. I am very excited and have ordered some wool tonight from Texere Yarns, I am going to have a go at using felt in my scrapbook work, I will post any photos as soon as poss!

Had a good evening at Slimming World, lost 2 1/2 pounds this week so pleased (and that includes a Chinese takeaway on Friday night too!)
