The King Speech

We went to see 'The Kings Speech' tonight and all I can say is that it is an excellent film, well worth going to see, I thought it tackled a delicate issue very well. Colin Firth was superb and was well supported by Helena Bonham Carter and Geoffery Rush.
After the death of his father King George V  & abdication of King Edward VIII , Bertie (Colin Firth) who has suffered from a debilitating speech impediment all his life, is suddenly crowned King George VI of England. With his country on the brink of war and in desperate need of a leader, his wife, Elizabeth (Helena Bonham Carter) arranges for her husband to see an eccentric speech therapist, Lionel Logue (Geoffery Rush). After a rough start, the two delve into an unorthodox course of treatment and eventually form an unbreakable bond. With the support of Logue, his family, his government and Winston Churchill , the King will overcome his stammer and deliver a radio-address that inspires his people and unites them in battle. Based on a true story.

    Colin Firth always chooses the best movies to star in but for some reason this movie hasn't enticed me yet but now that I see your review I may go see it soon! The most recent Colin Firth movie that I attended (and loved) was "A Single Man" and if you haven't seen it you must rent it soon!
