23rd July Scrap Thursday Part 9

This is the ninth scrapbook page for my new weekly post Scrap Thursday. I will try and bring new ideas and techniques and revisit old favourites too. If you have any suggestions or requests just let me know and I will do my best to accommodate these.  

I usually work in a 12" x 12" format as this allows me more space to experiment and get arty!

I have been asked to show layouts using more than one photograph so I thought our photographs of The Sydney Harbour Bridge would be perfect.

My husband has a 'thing' for bridges and his aim is to get at least one bridge walk into every holiday we take!

I started by stamping on smooth white card a design (this stamp is from The Artistic Stamper) that fit with the photographs. I used the new Distress Ink Hickory Smoke (its a fab colour)

Although we don't strictly have a Bucket List I did think these journal cards from 7 Gypsies were the perfect addition to the layout.

I mounted each photograph and the journal card onto black and positioned them onto the stamped card.

I used Washi Tape to add some detail.

 Then I added some word tickets.

I used some eyelets as they reminded me of the rivets and bolts on the bridge. 

I added a metal embellishment, painted it silver and added a touch of blue.

When assembled all the little details pulled the layout together. It is harder to add lots of embellishments and add ons when several photographs are used simply because there isn't the space so its important to choose carefully what you are going to add.

Below is a step by step pictorial guide of how I made the above layout. I made this for very good friends of mine after their first visit to Paris. I am really pleased with the overall result.

 I used Faber Castell Gelatos for the background.

 A good coverage is needed.

 Choose three colours that tone.

 This page has to be as a mirror image, do one page completely first.

 Using a baby wipe, blend each colour individually, make sure the colours do not bleed into one another.

 Gelatos are a messy medium, make sure you have plenty of wipes to hand!

Now choose the blending colours.

Don't be afraid to be bold, colours will be soften using a wipe.

 Now make a mirror image of the first page.

 This is a little time consuming but well worth the effort to get the finished result.

 Start building the background using stamps and stencils.

I used Big Brush Pens to colour in.

 I used a white POSCA pen to add highlights.

Add embellishments relative to the theme of your layout. I used embellishments by 7 Gypsies, Dutch Doobadoo, Idea-ology and Prima

Crop and mount photographs and stick in place, I do this after I have added the embellishments to make sure I keep the photos clean, if you are a tidy scrapbooker feel free to add first!

I simply had to add the crowns and how lucky was I that they fit perfectly!

Something for the Boys!

I made this tag to add to a card blank for my husbands birthday. Below are pictorial steps for making it.

Use Gelatos the cover the tag.

 Then blend using a stipple brush.

Add Crackle Paste.

 Leave to dry.

The colour underneath naturally shows through.

Add a touch of stamping to break up the background. 

I used a Finnabair stamp.

Layer up with embellishments of your choice. 

I used embellishments from Prima, 7 Gypsies and 

Idea-ology. Then add to a DL card blank.
